In oil and gas plant hydrocarbon inventory depressurization to flare in case of emergency shut down is a critical step. Emergency depressurization is carried out through blow down valves in a limited time span. Process engineer often require to estimate and evaluate the capacity of the blow down valve to determine the gas flow rate, temperature drop due to JT effect, pressure drop rate, density changes etc.
This procedure require iterative calculation to achieve the desired size of valve and orifice that makes this procedure very complex and lengthy. Gas Blow Down application contain two utilities one for blow down valve size and second for gas pipe blow down calculation. Application is developed to perform complex iterative calculation steps to achieve the optimum size of valve. Engineers will only provide basic process information and rest of complex calculations will be performed by application efficiently in quick time. Results are displayed in tabulated form and multiple options are give to draw graph for presentations and analysis.
